Impatiens are Back!
Impatiens are back at Vern Goers Greenhouse. Due to downy mildew being present in our area we have not sold traditional impatiens since 2013. Studies conducted at Michigan State University on a newly registered fungicide have shown that impatiens treated in the greenhouse and planted in downy mildew infected soil have survived until fall where they die naturally from the cold temperatures. The impatiens we carry this year have been treated with this fungicide. We cannot guarantee that you will not get downy mildew, but results look promising. We would love to hear feedback from you at the end of the season especially if you have planted in beds that were previously infected. Supplies are limited on these treated impatiens. We continue to carry bounce impatiens, our recommended substitute.
